Privacy Policy
Summary. We collect your email address when you join the waitlist, plus device and usage data through cookies. With your consent, we and our advertising partners use cookies to show and measure ads. We don't sell your email address. You can opt out of advertising cookies at any time with Cookie Settings.
1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how the operator of scout-preorder.us (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses and shares personal information when you visit scout-preorder.us (the “Site”) or join our waitlist. We are the controller of the personal information described in this policy.
You can reach us about anything in this policy at [email protected].
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Contact information: your email address when you join the waitlist.
- Communications: anything you send us by email, such as questions or privacy requests.
Information collected automatically
- Device and connection data: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device type, language and approximate location (city/region) derived from your IP address.
- Usage data: pages viewed, links clicked, time on page, referring URL and the search terms or ad that brought you to the Site.
- Cookie and advertising identifiers: cookie IDs, mobile advertising IDs, and click identifiers attached to ad links (for example, Google “gclid” or Meta “fbclid”).
Information from third parties
Advertising and analytics partners may give us aggregated or pseudonymous reports, such as how many people clicked an ad and then joined the waitlist.
We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information such as government ID numbers, financial account details, precise geolocation, or health data. The Site does not take payments.
3. How we use information
- To add you to the waitlist and send you updates about Scout E1, including when ordering opens.
- To answer your questions and handle your privacy requests.
- To operate, secure and debug the Site, and to prevent fraud, spam and abuse.
- To measure how the Site is used and improve its content and design.
- With your consent where required, to show you advertising on other sites and apps and measure how well our ads perform.
- To comply with law, enforce our Terms of Use, and protect our rights and the rights of others.
Legal bases (EEA/UK visitors): performance of a contract or steps at your request (waitlist), consent (analytics and advertising cookies, marketing email where required), legitimate interests (site security, basic operation, improving the Site) and legal obligation.
4. Advertising and cookies
We work with third-party advertising and analytics providers, which may include Google (Google Analytics, Google Ads) and Meta (Meta Pixel). These providers use cookies, pixels and similar technologies to collect information about your activity on this Site and across other sites over time. They use it to deliver ads that may interest you, limit how often you see an ad, and measure ad results.
Advertising and analytics cookies are off by default. They load only after you accept them in our cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time in Cookie Settings. Full details are in our Cookie Policy.
You can also control ads through these industry tools:
- Google Ads Settings: adssettings.google.com
- Google Analytics opt-out: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
- Meta ad preferences: facebook.com/adpreferences
- Digital Advertising Alliance: optout.aboutads.info
- Network Advertising Initiative: optout.networkadvertising.org
To learn how Google uses data from sites that use its services, see policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Do Not Track. There is no common standard for browser “Do Not Track” signals, so we don't respond to them. We do honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals as described in section 10.
5. How we share information
We share personal information only as follows:
- Service providers that work on our behalf under contract, such as website hosting, email delivery and customer support. They may use the information only to provide services to us.
- Advertising and analytics partners receive cookie identifiers, device data and usage data through their tags on the Site when you have consented. Some of these partners also use the data for their own purposes under their own privacy policies.
- Legal and safety: when required by law, subpoena or court order, or to protect the rights, property or safety of us, our users or others.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
- With your consent or at your direction.
We do not sell or rent your email address to anyone.
6. Data retention
We keep your waitlist email until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, or until 24 months after our last contact with you, whichever comes first. Analytics data is kept for up to 14 months. Cookie lifetimes are listed in the Cookie Policy. We may keep limited information longer when the law requires it or to resolve disputes.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards, including HTTPS encryption in transit and restricted access to personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
8. Your choices
- Marketing email: click “unsubscribe” in any email, or write to [email protected].
- Cookies: use Cookie Settings or your browser settings to block or delete cookies.
- Ads: use the opt-out tools listed in section 4.
9. U.S. state privacy rights
Depending on where you live, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon and other states with consumer privacy laws, you may have these rights:
- Know / access: confirm whether we process your personal information and get a copy of it.
- Correct inaccurate personal information.
- Delete personal information we collected from you.
- Portability: get your data in a portable format.
- Opt out of the sale of personal information, “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising, and targeted advertising.
- Non-discrimination: we won't treat you differently for using your rights.
To make a request, email [email protected] with the subject “Privacy Request”. We'll confirm receipt within 10 business days and respond within 45 days. We'll verify your request by confirming control of the email address on file. You may use an authorized agent; we may ask for proof of the agent's authority. If we deny your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision with the subject “Appeal”, and we'll respond within the time the law requires.
California notice at collection (CCPA/CPRA)
In the past 12 months we have collected these categories of personal information, for the purposes in section 3:
| Category | Examples | Disclosed to | Sold or shared? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Identifiers | Email address, IP address, cookie IDs, advertising IDs | Service providers; advertising and analytics partners (cookie IDs and IP only) | Cookie IDs and IP may be “shared” for advertising. Email is not sold or shared. |
| Internet or network activity | Pages viewed, clicks, referring URL, ad interactions | Service providers; advertising and analytics partners | May be “shared” for advertising |
| Geolocation (approximate) | City or region derived from IP address | Service providers; advertising and analytics partners | May be “shared” for advertising |
| Inferences | Interest in electric vehicles, inferred by ad partners | Advertising partners | May be “shared” for advertising |
We do not collect or use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you. We have no actual knowledge of selling or sharing personal information of consumers under 16. Retention periods are in section 6.
10. Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information
Allowing advertising cookies on the Site may count as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information, or as “targeted advertising”, under some U.S. state laws. You can opt out at any time:
- Open Cookie Settings and turn off Advertising; or
- Turn on Global Privacy Control in a supporting browser or extension. We treat a GPC signal as a valid opt-out for that browser and turn advertising cookies off automatically; or
- Email [email protected] with the subject “Do Not Sell or Share”.
Because cookie choices are stored in your browser, you'll need to opt out on each browser and device you use.
11. Visitors from the EEA and UK
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier processing. Contact us at [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
12. Children
The Site is not directed to children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
13. International transfers
We are based in the United States, and our service providers may process data in the U.S. and other countries. Where required, we use safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses for transfers of EEA/UK personal data.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the “Last updated” date above. If we make material changes, we'll give notice on the Site or by email before they take effect.
15. Contact us
For questions about this policy or to exercise your privacy rights, email [email protected]. We aim to reply within 10 business days.
